Dr. Allan Hamilton's first job was as a janitor, but he would go on to graduate from Harvard Medical School and complete his neurosurgical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He holds four professorships at the University of Arizona and has been chosen by his neurosurgical peers as One of America's Best Doctors for the last 18 consecutive years. And he's been selected as One of the Leading Intellects of the Twenty-First Century.

Dr. Hamilton is also a noted author whose books have received some of the highest literary honors, including the Nautilus Gold and the Nautilus Silver -- awards that were conceived to recognize world-changing books. Prior winners include His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Eckhart Tolle, and Deepak Chopra.

Dr. Hamilton has also served as medical script consultant on more than 150 episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" and four seasons of "Private Practice."

But in addition to his incredible medical and literary accomplishments, Dr. Hamilton is a passionate horseman whose equine work has been showcased on NBC's "Today" Show, ABC News, CNN, and PBS.  He is a frequent guest on NPR and has been featured in Western Horseman, Equus, and Horse & Rider magazines.

Along with his wife, Dr. Jane Hamilton, Dr. Allan Hamilton has facilitated equine clinics in the United States and abroad, and has served as keynote speakers for the Annual Gathering on Equine-Assisted Learning and Equine-Assisted Mental Health Best Practices. The spiritual and scientific principles used in all equine-facilitated programs are the focus of a documentary film by Emmy and Oscar-nominated film director Wayne Ewing, "Playing with Magic."

Additionally, the Drs. Hamilton were recruited to help evaluate and train horses from the National Stud of the Republic of Ireland and the Racing Academy and Centre of Education in County Kildare, Ireland. They were invited to address a joint session of both houses of the Irish Parliament on the rehabilitation and rescue of Thoroughbred horses from the racing industry. And they have been long-time advocates for the preservation of wild mustangs in the US and safeguarding their natural habitats throughout the West.
